New podcast! We are back!

September 28, 2026

Happy Fall Reader,

We’re back!

After a six-month hiatus, The Alcohol Free Marriage & More Podcast is back, and we’re so excited to be sitting down together again and having these conversations with you. Watch here or Click here to listen.

Since it’s been a while, we start with a little life update and catch you up on what’s been happening with us over the past six months. And, of course, we couldn’t come back without sharing our NA Drinks of the Week!

Then we dive into a topic that we know keeps so many people stuck with alcohol and one that kept both of us stuck for years too: the myth of moderation. (I know I wrote about this last week and now we are talking about it.)

You know the cycle. You decide you’re only going to drink on the weekends, only have one or two, only drink when you go out, or maybe take another 30-day break and then try moderation again.

But somehow, alcohol is still taking up so much space in your head.

So we explore a different question:

What if you’re not failing at moderation? What if this is what moderation actually looks like for you?

We talk about how trying to control alcohol can actually create more fixation, why it’s so important to understand what alcohol is really doing for you, and how your nervous system may be playing a bigger role than willpower.

And because faith is such an important part of alcohol freedom for us, we also explore the difference between asking God to help us control something and being willing to ask Him to help us surrender it.

Maybe the goal isn’t to get better at controlling our drinking. Maybe it’s time to ask a different question:

“Why am I putting so much energy into trying to control something that I’m not even sure I want in my life anymore?”

If you’re tired of making rules, breaking rules, starting over, and wondering why you just can’t figure this moderation thing out, this episode is for you.

We hope this conversation encourages you to get curious about your own relationship with alcohol, step out of the constant negotiation, and discover what real alcohol freedom could look like for you.

🍂 5 Tips for Staying Alcohol-Free When the Seasons Change

A new season can bring old drinking memories and rituals with it. Here are 5 ways to stay grounded:

1. Notice what you’re romanticizing.
Are you craving alcohol or the cozy, relaxing feeling you associate with it?

2. Keep the ritual, replace the ingredients.
Keep the fire, the football game, the dinner, the celebration -just swap the alcohol for an NA option you enjoy. There are so many you can try!

3. Expect old memories to show up.
Your brain connects seasons, smells, and traditions with drinking. A craving may simply be an old association and not something you need to act on. Play the tape forward!

4. Plan ahead.
Know what you’ll drink and what you’ll say before parties, bonfires, football games, and holiday gatherings.

5. Create a vision for your new season.
Instead of thinking about what you’re missing, ask:
What do I want this season to feel like without alcohol? Get curious!

Clear mornings. Better sleep. More peace. Deeper connection. 🍁

A new season doesn’t have to pull you back into an old pattern. It can be an opportunity to create something new

❤️ Donate to help our neighbors: Embracing Emi

Our neighbors, Katie and Mark, are walking through an incredibly difficult season as their beautiful 6-year-old daughter, Emi, continues her 2½-year treatment for B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). With Katie serving as Emi’s primary caregiver and unable to work right now, I would love for us to come alongside this family and help carry some of the weight. If you feel led, please consider giving financially, purchasing something from Emi’s shop, or sharing their story. And most importantly, please pray for Emi’s healing and protection, for strength and provision for Katie and Mark, and for wisdom for her medical team.

September 14, 2026 Hi Reader, Let's talk about The Myth of Moderation? What is it? The myth of moderation is the belief: “If I could just learn to control my drinking, then I wouldn’t have to give it up.” This belief and thought process keep me stuck for almost a decade. And I know it has kept others stuck too. Because we focused on trying to become better at drinking alcohol or controlling how much we drink instead of asking whether alcohol is actually adding anything good to our lives. For...

August 31, 2026 Hi Reader, WOW! Has time just gotten away from you too? It's been awhile and I'm back and asking - Have you ever thought about September as another January? There’s something about September that naturally feels like a fresh start. Summer is winding down, vacations are ending, routines are returning, and many of us are ready to get back to taking care of our health. And if you're a woman in midlife who has been thinking about drinking less alcohol, taking a break from alcohol,...

July 13, 2026 Reader, Today is my birthday - or like I enjoy saying - I'm now on level 58! As I was thinking about another trip around the sun, I realized something, this is my seventh birthday celebrated alcohol-free. Seven birthdays where I woke up feeling grateful instead of groggy.Seven birthdays where I was fully present.Seven birthdays where I didn't need a glass of wine to make the day feel special. And honestly? I wouldn't trade it for anything. Birthdays used to feel like one of...
