September Is Another January: Are You Ready for a Reset?

August 31, 2026

Hi Reader,

WOW! Has time just gotten away from you too? It's been awhile and I'm back and asking - Have you ever thought about September as another January?

There’s something about September that naturally feels like a fresh start. Summer is winding down, vacations are ending, routines are returning, and many of us are ready to get back to taking care of our health.

And if you're a woman in midlife who has been thinking about drinking less alcohol, taking a break from alcohol, or quitting drinking altogether, September might be the perfect time for an alcohol-free reset.

Maybe summer included more wine, cocktails, cookouts, vacations, and late nights than you planned.

Maybe you're noticing that alcohol just doesn't make you feel the way it used to, especially as you've gotten older.

Your sleep isn't as good. Maybe your energy is lower. You feel more anxious the next morning. Your workouts feel harder. Your blood sugar feels less stable. And that one glass of wine sometimes turns into two or three...maybe a bottle.

You might even be asking yourself:

Do I have a problem with alcohol?

Maybe the question should be - Is alcohol taking more from me than it’s giving me?

Here's what I want you to know:

You don't have to wait until January to make a change. And you don't have to hit rock bottom to decide that alcohol isn't working for you anymore.

September gives us another opportunity to pause and ask:

How do I want to feel for the rest of this year?

Maybe you want better sleep without alcohol.

Maybe you want more energy, better workouts, and improved metabolic health.

Maybe you're tired of the 3 a.m. wake-ups, anxiety, brain fog, and alcohol cravings at the end of the day.

Maybe you're navigating perimenopause or menopause and realizing that alcohol seems to affect your body differently than it did in your 20s and 30s.

Or maybe you're simply tired of thinking about drinking every day.

If that sounds familiar, what if September wasn't about another diet, another set of rules, or another promise to "have more willpower"?

What if it was about getting curious about your relationship with alcohol?

What would happen if you gave your brain and body a break from drinking?

What might change in your sleep, energy, mood, blood sugar, workouts, relationships, and spiritual life?

And perhaps most importantly:

What might you discover about why you reach for alcohol in the first place?

Because creating an alcohol-free lifestyle isn't just about taking away the wine. It's about learning how to support your body and nervous system differently.

Maybe you need rest or connection.

Maybe your body needs better nourishment.

Maybe you need new tools for managing stress and alcohol cravings.

Maybe that 5 p.m. desire for a glass of wine isn't a sign that you need more willpower.

Maybe it's an invitation to understand what your body, brain, and heart are actually asking for.

And just maybe God is inviting you into something new.

September can be your reset.

Not because you failed this summer.

Not because you need to punish yourself for what you ate or drank.

But because you get to choose how you want to walk into the final months of this year.

Imagine waking up October 1st after taking a break from alcohol and thinking: Wow. I feel different!

Clearer.

Stronger.

More rested.

More peaceful.

More present.

More connected to God.

And more confident that alcohol doesn't have to be the thing you turn to at the end of the day.

You don't have to wait for another Monday.

You don't have to wait for Dry January or Sober October.

And you certainly don't have to wait until your drinking becomes "bad enough" to make a change.

September is another January.

And if your ready let this is your invitation to begin again.

If you're a sober-curious woman, struggling with drinking, or simply wondering what your life could look like with less or no alcohol, I'd love to walk alongside you.

As a Christian alcohol-free coach, I help women look beyond willpower and explore the habits, thoughts, nervous system patterns, nutrition, faith, and beliefs that can keep us stuck in the drinking cycle.

If you're ready to change your relationship with alcohol, reach out and schedule a free discovery call. We can talk about where you are, where you want to be, and what freedom could look like for you.

Here's to a September filled with clarity, peace, strength, and new beginnings.

❤️ Something that is on My Heart: Embracing Emi

There is a very special family on my heart that I want to share with you this month.

Katie, Mark, and their beautiful daughter Emi are our neighbors. We have gotten to know this sweet family better through Facebook (following this journey) and by helping in small ways bringing in their mail, giving, and watching their sweet dog, Gia. Watching what they are walking through has deeply touched our hearts.

Emi is a beautiful 6-year-old little girl who is autistic and is fighting B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL).

She is about halfway through 2½ years of chemotherapy treatments, which have included hospital stays, blood transfusions, spinal taps, bone marrow biopsies, medications, and countless appointments.

As we all know, childhood cancer doesn't just affect the child. It impacts the entire family.

Mark took FMLA for the first year to help care for Emi and has now returned to work. Katie, a small business owner, is now Emi's primary caregiver and working isn't possible. The family also has to remain very isolated to protect Emi from infections.

This is where I would love for us to come alongside our neighbors.

If God has blessed you with the ability to give, would you consider helping Katie, Mark, and Emi? You can give financially, purchase something from Emi's shop, or simply share their story.

And if you can't help financially, please PRAY.

Pray for Emi's body to respond to treatment and for protection from infection. Pray for wisdom for her medical team and for strength, rest, provision, and encouragement for Katie and Mark.

We can't take this journey away from them, but together we can help carry some of the weight.

🩷 Give. Shop. Share. Pray.

September 14, 2026 Hi Reader, Let's talk about The Myth of Moderation? What is it? The myth of moderation is the belief: “If I could just learn to control my drinking, then I wouldn’t have to give it up.” This belief and thought process keep me stuck for almost a decade. And I know it has kept others stuck too. Because we focused on trying to become better at drinking alcohol or controlling how much we drink instead of asking whether alcohol is actually adding anything good to our lives. For...
